Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has worked as a journalist for more than 45 years, focusing on suffering of people in war zones and natural disasters. Curry has reported from the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, born November 19th 1956 (Agana), is an American journalist who served as a television news anchor. Curry was well-known for the reporting she did about natural disasters as well as war torn countries. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father was an American Navy Sailor. The couple met when her father was stationed in Japan following World War II. Her father was in the military, so her family was forced to relocate often. Curry completed her high schooling within Ashland Oregon. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in 1978. In her youth she was exposed many different cultures. Her empathetic attitude towards international affairs is probably a result of her experiences. Curry's family was often moving and Curry did not stay in one school more than two months. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. She began a career that would lead to a lucrative career by working as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. It was her first time as a female news reporter at the station when she was just 22. Later, she became an anchor/reporter for KGW at Portland Oregon. After four years she moved to Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. She was awarded 2 Emmy Awards during the six years with the station.
